About Deneye

Deneye is an AI-powered diabetic retinopathy (DR) screening platform. Our mission is to make DR screening accessible and affordable globally - bridging the gap between available ophthalmology expertise and the growing diabetes population.

537 million people worldwide live with diabetes, and 103 million of them have diabetic retinopathy. Most remain unscreened because there are not enough specialists. Deneye exists to change that.

Our approach

The platform combines deep learning with certified ophthalmologist review. Every fundus photograph is assessed by AI and then reviewed by a human specialist before any clinical decision is made. The AI serves as a first-pass triage tool - it does not replace human judgment.

The AI model was trained and validated independently on public medical datasets.

Founder

Deneye was founded by Robert Christiaanse, a Dutch software developer with over 15 years of experience in C#/.NET and enterprise systems. This is a personal project driven by the belief that AI can help make retinal screening available where it is needed most - in both developed and developing countries.
